They’ve become a quiet staple of sound-healing and ceremonial work — and because they hold up to deep manipulation, they’re just as at home in ambient, cinematic, and experimental music.
To make them easy to step into, we partnered with Steffen Ki — an artist and educator who works with these instruments extensively — to build the Sonic Alchemy template: a starting point for exploring the methodology, the alternate tunings, and the flow, whether you're already in practice or just getting to know the sounds.

It’s drawn from real-world practice and refined over many years. Steffen Ki built much of it — layering field recordings from his travels with analog gear and granular processing into something genuinely his own — and running through it are live parts recorded by Brian D’Oliveira: flutes, cello, percussion, and voice from years of ceremonial and shamanic practice across South America, India, and beyond. You’re not getting a pack of sounds back — you’re getting the methodology behind them.

Sonic Alchemy uses 432 PTT — a harmonic tuning system developed by Robert Edward Grant. Rather than simply lowering pitch from 440 to 432 Hz, it retunes the relationships between the notes themselves around a 432 Hz field using phi-based ratios, for a more coherent, spacious, and naturally resonant harmonic field for sound healing and deep listening.
