    Doom metal lovers.

    in General

Just thinking out loud here, any Mndala users are creating some doom metal pieces out here? Wich instruments are you using? Are you passing Mndala into other effects? I got some heavy and thick sounds passing Arca into the Devil-Loc from Soundtoys and bringing the Devil-Loc mix down, and turning up the darkness knob halfway up. What about you? Definitely. I ran some Arca string harmonics through a Pro co rat and layered it with some down tuned guitars on a recent piece I was working on. Doom gratification ensues. Seeing how Chris from Underoath has used some of the instruments has been very inspiring too.

Funny you mention this I was just thinking about this the other day; how MNTRA's instruments might resonate with people who make "alternative" and "darker" styles ofd music. When we were designing the FX sample maps for ARCA, we had this in mind. we wanted to create a palette of sounds that were complementary to the processed sounds but could also stand on their own. As for doom and doom-heads specifically, ARCA has a few sample maps with varying types of distortion, from light distortion and saturation, to punishing bit-crushing effects. I'm a particular fan of Digital Scramble and Space Drive in ARCA. These are perhaps more "textural" and perhaps experimental in terms of doom-tone which is why they are great as a backing layer on top of whatever thick sound you are putting in the forefront.
